Walmart Inc has invested $320 million in the latest fundraising for Dada-JD Daojia, a Chinese online grocery and delivery firm. The Arkansas-based company's partnership with Dada-JD Daojia dates back to 2016 when it invested $50 million. At present, 200 Walmart stores in 30 major Chinese cities have a presence in JD Daojia.

Dada-JD Daojia was formed from the merger of JD Daojia, which is JD.com's online-to-offline business, and Dada Nexus, a large crowd-sourcing delivery platform in China.

Don Quijote Holdings Chief Executive Koji Ohara suggested in a presser that the Japanese discount retailer would be interested in buying Seiyu if Walmart puts the Japanese supermarket chain up for sale. This comes after business daily Nikkei reported last month that the U.S. retail giant would offload the unit.

Britain's Competition and Markets Authority has opened a formal investigation into the proposed 7.3 billion pound merger of supermarket chains Sainsbury and Walmart's Asda. The investigation will look at whether the deal could lead to higher prices or worse quality services due to reduced competition.

The firm's Flipkart unit is reportedly in talks with Star India to acquire a stake in video streaming service Hotstar. The move would give Walmart targeted video content as it battles rivals Amazon and Netflix in India over the countries rapidly expanding interest in streaming video services.

Britain's Competition and Markets Authority has determined the 7.3B British Pound acquisition of Walmart's Asda by Sainsbury needs an in-depth review. At issue is the fact that Sainsbury and Asda have overlapping store in hundreds of local areas, which could lead to lower competition and higher prices if the deal is approved. The firms are the 2nd and 3rd largest supermarket chains in Britain.

Walmart is buying Bare Necessities for an undisclosed figure.

Analysts suggest the lingerie focused apparel retailer fits well into the firms overall acquisition strategy.

Bare Necessities plans to continue operation of its site as a standalone brand.

Sources close to Walmart said the home for every day low prices is planning to hire 20,000 workers at its supply chain division and raise wages ahead of the busy holiday season. The roles include a mix of part time and full time jobs across more than 250 Walmart and Sam's Club facilities.
