General Motors is recommending that Chevrolet Bolt owners park the vehicle at least 50 feet from other vehicles and avoid garages due to explosion risk. GM is also advising owners to park the vehicle outside immediately after charging and not leave them charging indoors overnight. Sources suggest the batteries in as many as 13 of the electric vehicles have caught fire so far. Production of the Chevy Bolt is halted. GM has issued a recall notice for affected vehicles but admits it could be some time before many can be properly repaired do to ongoing supply chain disruptions. |
